Job Description
Taking inspiration from Lockheed Martin’s Advanced Development Programs (ADP), otherwise known as Skunk Works, we are creating an innovation lab inside an international hotel brand.??
No, really. The lab is currently being built inside a hotel in New York City. The room is designed for a 5-person team comprised of a three functions: technology, design, and product strategy.?? We want the lab to be on-the-ground, testing their prototypes with actual guests. These prototypes will evolve into a product that is shipped within 6 months of your start date.
You have control. Corporate leadership at this hotel agree with the principles outlined in Kelly’s 14 Rules and Practices. You should check out Rule 5!
You will be the technologist-in-residence. But, that doesn’t mean you will write code for someone else’s strategy. You will have equal say throughout the process — from conception, to build, to launch. Your mission is to improve the guest experience through digital. We hope you choose to accept it!??

??Time horizon
The residence is either for 6 or 12 months. For those who want to stay on, there is the opportunity to not only lead this lab, but also the creation of other labs in different parts of the business.
The residence is full time.
This position is for immediate hire.??
Technical Capabilities??
You can build a mobile application. From there, we will assume some competence in other environments and languages. We are looking for a well-rounded toolkit that stands up to the test when it comes time to release under a fast-moving schedule. Instead of listing every programming language under the sun, we’d love to hear about which ones you like to work with! ??
Experience
??You’re the lead engineer at a start-up with a lifespan near its finish. You’re the talented member of a team at a popular technology company looking for the opportunity of more control and leadership. You’re the workhorse at an agency tired of building products for people’s promotions instead of the user. ?We are looking for someone who is ready to lead but not to give up doing the work.

You’ve led other engineers
You’ve shipped something that was well-received by a group of users
Your ideas and executions aren’t just about incremental change, they are about creating whole new products
You’ve stayed at a bunch of hotels and think you know how to make them better
