Job Description
You manage the engineers and make sure the trains always run on time. You have a proven track record of leading and managing teams. You are results driven, and rely on process and technical acumen to get to the finish line. You love to manage, and scrutinize your hires by looking for those who are better than you. You think in terms of resource allocation, and constantly seek ways to improve the efficiency of the engineering team. You have the privilege of setting the schedule and deadlines because you always over-deliver, ahead of time.
You will report to the Chief Technology Officer (“CTO”).
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with CTO, Product, Marketing, and Operations to make sure development requirements are clearly set, sensible, achievable, and efficiently satisfied
Keep application up to date with the latest dependent libraries (jars)
Assist developers with software bugs
Review commits, set and uphold development standards, train developers
Interpret roadmaps, translate into actionable development plans, track progress against timelines
Serve as primary interface with designers, product managers, engineers, marketing team, and others to deliver the desired products efficiently
Plan, schedule, and manage development work
Coordinate software releases
Conduct developer meetings
Manage engineering work of external vendors, if needed
Qualifications:
We are seeking candidates who exhibit a strong desire to work in a startup environment and a record of high achievement. Successful candidates will have:
Masters degree from a top tier university
Experience managing local and remote teams
Expert knowledge of JAVA and SQL
Demonstrable, hands on experience building robust database driven applications
Demonstrable, hands on experience scaling databases and web applications
