Job Description
On Deck is seeking a Data Scientist for its Analytics team to develop new strategies to extend credit to millions of small businesses across the country. We’re seeking an inquisitive mind looking to reshape the face of small business lending by digging deep into the mountains of data that traditional banks have overlooked.
As part of the Credit Team, you will:
Become the world's most efficient and innovative small business lender. Our secret weapon is our ability to understand the health of small businesses better than anyone else in the industry. Our team derives insights that direct multi-million dollar customer acquisitions strategies and marketing campaigns. We explore SME data sources ranging from social media to bank transactions and US government data and use our results to compete head to head with some of the nation’s largest financial institutions. We are reinventing the way banks lend to small businesses.
About You:
Your university or post-secondary education demonstrates that you aren’t afraid of numbers. We love Economics, Computer Science, Math, and Statistics majors, but always value different backgrounds.
You have a few years experience working hands on with Big Data analytics, finding meaningful insights, and sharing them with the rest of your team.
You’ve used SAS, R or Python to solve a complex problem with limited data and a lot of moving pieces.
You have an understanding of SQL (joins, aggregation, standard functions)
You’re comfortable learning new skills on the fly and enjoy solving quantitative problems and analyses
There’s at least one statistical model you’ve built on your own that you’re really proud of.
Ideally, you’ve created a public GitHub project, posted answers on stack overflow.
Maybe you participated in a Kaggle competition, achieved above-average investment returns with Prosper, or built a forecasting model to win you’re fantasy football league (tell us about this in your cover letter)
At On Deck, you will:
Have a meaningful impact on the company's future, and share in the rewards accordingly
Create features quickly and without any red tape
Work in a fun, fast-paced start up environment with some really cool and brilliant people
Be on a motivated team that gets a lot done |
