Job Description
You use your mobile device to unlock doors, buy your groceries, turn on your oven, and dim the lights. You think in terms of responsive design. You’ll visit the web from your Macbook’s browser, but only as a last resort. Your two favorite places to shop: The App Store and the Android Market.
Role and responsibilities:
Build and maintain native Betterment application on multiple platforms, including iPad and Android.
Enhance and maintain existing iPhone application.
Enhance mobile web browser experience.
Work with top developers and UX designers to make the application sing.
Qualifications:
We are seeking candidates who exhibit a strong desire to work in a startup environment and a record of high achievement. Successful candidates will have:
1-2 years of mobile development experience, but actual work and accomplishments trump.
Degree in computer science or related field (preferred), but again actual work and accomplishments trump.
Expert knowledge of Objective C & Cocoa.
Experience consuming and producing both JSON and XML.
Experience building solid user interfaces to robust backend web services.
Expertise with mobile/web usability standards and practices.
Nice-to-haves:
Experience coding in Java for Android.
Experience with JavaScript frameworks, such as Backbone.
HTML, CSS.
Benefits:
We offer killer compensation, stock options, a performance bonus, and healthcare.
We are unusually principled in our approach to office culture, as it mirrors the values that drive our product - making life better, more efficient, and more productive:
Improving our customers’ lives. Be a part of a company that is improving how people invest for their future: to buy their first house, to fund their kid’s college, to live better.
Efficient. Have an idea, put it into action. Observe how well it works (or doesn’t) as part of a tight-knit team. Have room to experiment, iterate, and learn.
Transparent. We share our insights and successes with each other regularly.
Goal-oriented. We have a big board with our customers’ goals and deposits. Growing this aligns and motivates us–as our goal-based investing motivates our customers to save.
Advised. We set goals for employees they can achieve, coaching them to learn and grow.
Using the best tools. We believe in giving our people the tools they need to perform their best. Choose whatever computer setup and extras you want.
Personalized. We work when and how we want–be that 3PM or 3AM, in socks or at home–however we get more done. Unlimited vacation (for real). We want our team to achieve their best at their best, and hugely support life / work balance.
Stocked with perks. Our kitchen is stocked with fresh-ground coffee, sodas, gourmet snacks, cereal bar. Free meals (hello, Seamless!). Gym reimbursement, free bike storage.
Rewarding. We reward each other with $200 bonuses whenever we do something good. We make a big deal of milestones, because it makes us happier and better. |
