Job Description
We are searching for an entrepreneurial Engagement Manager to join our Social Media Team. The Engagement Manager will be responsible for reporting on user engagement on About.com Owned and Operated social communities using social analytics tools, and for discovering, interacting with and cultivating members of offsite communities where About.com content is being shared with a goal of developing longer term relationships.

Description

Engage and cultivate audiences that discuss and share About.com on offsite social platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest, Tumblr and question and answer communities including Yahoo! Answers, Stack Overflow, and Quora.
Manage communities and post content to About.com social media pages (i.e. Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Tumblr, etc).
Track and report on actionable analytics for social media activity using SimplyMeasured, Google Analytics and bit.ly.
Work with vertical level Content Managers to optimize the performance of social postings.
Develop ideas for ways to package and curate our content in to social solutions (single serving Tumblr blogs, Rebelmouse pages, Twitter Custom Timelines, Storify, etc) for use with organic and native marketing plans.
Share results with key internal, external and global stakeholders.
Help build social media advocacy throughout the organization by assisting with Training and sharing of social Best Practices.
Help out with live social coverage of key events (Google+ Hangouts, livetweeting, liveblogging, Storify, etc).
Work with the About.com PR team to aid PR efforts that require social media extensions.
Keep abreast of the latest changes and innovations within the social media landscape and how they may apply to our use cases.

Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or other related degree or significant social media management experience.
1-3 years of experience as a Community Manager or maintaining a social property (i.e. blog, message board, etc) on behalf of a Brand, company, third-party, etc
Proficiency with content marketing on social networks such as Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Google+, YouTube and Twitter and social publishing tools (Buffer, Hootsuite, Sprout Social, etc).
Experience creating effective visual content for use on Pinterest and Instagram.
Demonstrated social analytics experience and passion for numbers and analysis.
Strong planning and organizational skills.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Excellent understanding of the online media business.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products.
Capable of explaining technical concepts to non-technical audience effectively.

Preferred:
Understanding of social advertising models (Twitter Promoted Products, Facebook Ads / Sponsored Stories, Pinterest Promoted Pins.).
Knowledge of social media listening tools (i.e., Radian6, CrimsonHexagon)
Regular Social Media contributor (i.e. contribute regularly to a blog, message board, community, etc )
