Doug Bemis has served as CTO & Cofounder for several startups ranging from a video game development group to a natural language process legal company to a machine learning research lab. In between start-up endeavors, Doug received a PhD in neurolinguistics & computational neuroscience from NYU based on studies into the neural bases of language comprehension. His most recent company - Geometric Intelligence - was acquired into Uber at the end of 2016 to form the basis of Uber AI Labs. Over the last three years at Uber, Doug's responsibilities have ranged from the establishment of a larger Uber AI organization, direction of applied AI research efforts, & the spearheading of various technical innovation initiatives.
