Goals
SVCTBA Smart City Conference & Expo Follows the Tradition but to Add & Explore More Subject Presentations, Business Opportunities & Do Show Cases of Technologies, Solutions & Services in Energy, Transportation, IoT & Big Data for Smart Cities.

Focus
SVCTBA 2018 Conference & Expo sponsor by the City of San Jose at Rotunda. The themes of this year's conference will be Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning Technologies, & Innovations in the areas of IoT, Big Data, Transportation & Green Energy for Smarter cities. AI - Artificial intelligence (AI, also machine intelligence, MI) is intelligence displayed by machines, in contrast with the natural intelligence (NI) displayed by humans & other animals.

About SVCTBA
Silicon Valley Chinese Technology & Business Association, SVCTBA, formerly known as National Business Information (NBI), founded in 1987, is a global innovation & technology exchange platform that promotes member business developments in the US & Asia.

Smart Cities
Smart cities gather & report their data in formats that people can understand & use to make city life better. Smart City data will help everyone to overcome conflicts & to work together more effectively. Smart Cities empower smart citizens & urban organizations to create resilient, enjoyable & continually improving urban life experiences.

The Smart City Standard (ISO 37120) is an integrated suite of 100 international standards for sustainable community development that are indicators for city services & quality of life. These evolving ISO standard indicators help people & organizations to work together with shared measurements of their progress without passing judgments.

Thus cities can use the standards to compare their past, present & future performance & compare with other cities while taking into account the differences that make each city special for its citizens. The ISO standard will continue to evolve as cities become ever smarter. Cities today produce more data in 2 years than the produced in the previous 200 years!

We must learn to use this data more effectively. Smart Cities work toward a broad, integrated approach to improving the efficiency of city operations, the quality of life for its citizens & growing their local economy.

Technologies for Future Smart Cities

Cybersecurity
Cities & communities around the world are increasingly deploying advanced technologies such as Internet of Things & Cyber-Physical Systems for improved efficiency, convenience, safety, & better quality of life. However, the issues of security & privacy of the smart city solutions have not been generally considered a top priority. The cybersecurity of a smart city involves both strategic planning for future cities & the recognition of issues in cities that already have "smart" components.

The word "smart" is trending nowadays: next to smart city, topics that are often mentioned are smart industry, smart government & smart society. Security is key to all smart developments. Data leakage from online databases as part of smart city services, for example, could have serious consequences. However, Smart Secure Cities are not only about IT in combination with cyber security & online safety, but also about how security can be organised in a smart way. The development of a shared vision on smart city security, for example, allows involved parties to develop secure products & services from the outset, also known as security by design'. On top of this, it opens up opportunities for a chain approach to integrated security.

5G Technology
5G is an effort to create a sustainable industry around the wireless consumption of data for all the world's telcos. One key goal of 5G is to dramatically improve quality of service, & extend that quality over a broader geographic area, in order for the wireless industry to remain competitive against the onset of gigabit fiber service coupled with Wi-Fi.

Demand for 5G services is rising sharply across consumer & industry markets. To service this demand, service providers need purpose-built microwave & fiber mobile transport solutions - delivering ubiquitous, high-capacity 5G & 4G connectivity across cities, suburban areas & remote, rural spaces.

Artificial Intelligence
AI research is defined as the study of intelligent agents: any device that perceives its environment & takes actions that maximize its chance of success at some goal. Colloquially, the term artificial intelligence is applied when a machine mimics cognitive functions that humans associate with other human minds, such as learning & problem solving.

Data Science
Data Science - Data science, also known as data-driven science, is an interdisciplinary field about scientific methods, processes, & systems to extract knowledge or insights from data in various forms, either structured or unstructured, similar to data mining.

Data science is a concept to unify statistics, data analysis & their related methods in order to understand & analyze actual phenomena with data. It employs techniques & theories drawn from many fields within the broad areas of mathematics, statistics, information science, & computer science, in particular from the subdomains of machine learning, classification, cluster analysis, data mining, databases, & visualization.
