EVENT DETAILS |
Training students to perform medical procedures can be challenging, particularly procedures that present a potential danger to patients & students. Physical simulators can be expensive & access can be limited, a problem made worse by the pandemic.
With virtual (computer-based) simulation, students can practice potentially dangerous procedures in a safe, virtual environment. In addition, virtual simulators can be relatively inexpensive, interactive & engaging, used by students anywhere & anytime, & can facilitate feedback & assessment so students can practice to mastery.
The development of two 3D simulators will be discussed, one related to dental radiography & one related to dental local anesthesia. Both were largely developed & widely deployed to schools during the pandemic.
Our speaker, Evan Fram MD MBA, is a retired neuroradiologist, medical educator, & software developer with an interest in VR, simulation, & education.
Our purpose is: To connect educators, developers & others in this space to create effective ways of developing & implementing VR in educational spaces.
