ABSTRACT: Application programming interfaces (APIs) have become the gateways to digital transformation by accelerating the adoption of cloud platforms & significantly reducing the cost of implementing SaaS applications in the enterprise. However, they have also become sources of new risks & vulnerabilities as evidenced in the recent past through several large breaches including those in Facebook, Venmo, & more recently the social media app Parler. API risks have been challenging to control as they stand beyond the purview of traditional risk governance, & are subject to continuous change as cloud & SaaS applications evolve. Also, secure design of APIs often runs into conflict with developer productivity & client performance. This event brings together an expert panel to analyze this emerging risk & new approaches of saving digital transformation from the leaky cauldrons of risky APIs.
