Brief description:
A three-part, hands-on workshop (3 hrs per session) on publishing web maps & geospatial processing using modern JavaScript approaches & tools. Instructor Rob Gaston - a real Javascript whiz - will show students how to acquire, create, & process geospatial data & then publish those data as interactive maps using open-source JavaScript tools & web-based services.

Mapbox GL JS
Mapbox services
GeoJSON
TurfJS
Deploying web maps with GitHub
Students will walk away from the class having published a custom map to the web similar to this one:http://www.rgaston.com/map_demo/
Students are encouraged to have some basic JavaScript or programming knowledge. Students can bring any kind of modern laptop with Windows or MacOS. No special software is needed prior; we will install all the dependencies that students need in the course of the workshop.

Workshop Includes:
A 1 year license of Esri's ArcGIS for personal use
Hands-on lab time & opportunity to work closely with the instructor
Certificate of Attendance and/or Completion, upon request
Important Notes:
The workshop venue may change based on classroom availability. Registered students will be given advance notice if this is the case.
Students must bring their own laptops to participate in this workshop, either a PC or a Mac.
