EVENT DETAILS

Mark your calendars & join us for a very timely & essential conversation about the future of journalism with Mandy Jenkins, news innovation leader & president of the ONA Board of Directors. Afterward we'll also have a little celebration for ONA, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this week.

Mandy was recently named General Manager of The Compass Experiment, a digital news laboratory founded by McClatchy & Google to explore new sustainable business models for local news. She was also a John S. Knight Fellow at Stanford this past year, which led to her creating Project Disconnect -- an ethnographic study designed to find out about the disconnect between the media & the public. We'll get an early chance to hear about her first month in charge of starting up the McClatchy/Google venture & her conclusions from her research into the mainstream media's challenges to gain the trust of today's news consumers.

Mandy was previously the first editor-in-chief at Storyful, where she oversaw an editorial team that worked with newsrooms to find, verify & publish eyewitness media & social insights from around the world. She worked as managing editor of the Project Thunderdome newsroom for Digital First Media, which supported more than 200 local newspapers across the U.S. in producing digital journalism projects. In addition, Mandy was a social news editor for politics at The Huffington Post, social media editor for TBD, & worked in several digital news roles at the Cincinnati Enquirer & the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. She also serves on the board of directors of the American Society of News Editors.

Once again, the Medill School of Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communications at Northwestern University is generously hosting us for this event. RSVP here -- & please remember to enter your full name & the names of any guests when prompted so you'll be able to pass building security.
