BetaNYC has designed tools & customizedtrainingsspecifically intended to help Community Boards access, analyze, map & use data to inform decision-making. These insights come from a three year partnership with the Manhattan Borough President's Office.
This workshop will teach you how to navigate the NYC open data portal to find your desired datasets, & implement fundamental data analytics in Socrata & spreadsheets. Believe it or not, you will leave this workshop completely confident in your ability to create useful data summaries using the Roll-up in Socrata & Pivot table in Google Sheets. Be prepared to work on & off the computer, as mid-way through we join together for a tactile, hands-on data exercise.
To participate in this class we highly recomened you bring a laptop & power adapter. This class will not work on Chromebooks, iOS phones or tablets, nor on Android devices.
Class time 90 mins. We start promptly at 5:20.
Tickets are free & our classroom is limited to 25 people. We're asking for a suggested donation of $30.
