This 2 day event is intended to ramp up absolute beginners on basic SQL & using the Google BigQuery database system to use in their organizations & work. SQL is one of the most critical skills in an analytics professional's skillset & beyond. This tutorial will take you through one of the most important aspects of SQL, mastering the SELECT statement. We'll also cover important concepts within BigQuery itself that apply to almost all SQL database systems.
We'll wrangle multiple open-source databases which are available through Google's BigQuery, a cloud based data service. Here are some quick bullets on what we'll be learning about:
- Core SELECT statement clauses
- Aggregation Functions
- Mathematical & Logical Operators
- JSON functions
- Creating database views
Once you've learned a mastery of the UI & using command line tools to execute queries in BQ, you'll be well on your way to applying similar steps to almost all other databases.
From a practical perspective, we provide some simulated & real datasets from digital & non-digital products to help you get down to real-world use cases around generating insights as you will be expected to in your profession or organization. This includes tasks like generating a calculation of customer retention, cleaning messy URL data, & merging multiple revenue reporting resources together into one standardized view.
