Overview:
Since its inception in early 2009, Bitcoin is awatershed moment for peer-to-peer (P2P) digital payments. Itallows us (humans) to transfer value (BTC) to each other globally through a novel cryptographically-secure & distributed medium (blockchain) WITHOUT theneed for a trusted 3rd-party entities (banks). Now with estimated 22 billion "smart" IoT devices coming online just next year, with various functionalities, network bandwidths, & battery power limitations, the trillion-dollar question is whether blockchains & DLTs are equipped to jump from solely P2P to machine-to-machine (M2M) & device-to-device (D2D) transactions as well. In this event, we will see whether & how the convergence of blockchain & IoT protocols can produce new "smart", programmable, distributed, ubiquitous & secure Networks for all humans & machines & devices alike to seamlessly transfer information AND value to one another without the fear of hacks due to single points of failure. Or is this largely just a pipe dream...
Topics:
-What is the Internet today & why IoT/M2M networks?
-Breaking down network types (i.e. Cellular vs. Mesh) & standards (i.e. Wifi, Bluetooth, NFC,LoRa, Sigfox, Zigbee)
-How blockchains & Tangle-based DLTs fit into these evolving IoT/M2M network paradigms
-Nextsteps for these "smart" crypto-IoT Networks?
