The Future of Mixed Reality is on the Blockchain: How blockchain is transforming the art economy
Mixed Reality (MR) - the hybridof AR & VR - merges real & virtual environments to produce beautiful & unique experiences & visualizations. It is used as an independent concept as well as to classify the spectrum of technologies often referred to as reality-virtuality continuum. MR covers all possible areas including variations & compositions of real & virtual objects.
Blockchain, the technology that enables crypto-currencies such as Bitcoin, is now disrupting every industry, so we are increasingly seeing interesting examples emerge of companies incorporating blockchain into their offering,and AR is no exception.
In this new decentralized world, art has been one of the first & greatest use cases. Artists who otherwise would have been forced to use a large-scale centralized company to distribute their work are now able to distribute work in a decentralized way & to receive rewards for their creations without profit-skimming corporate structures in place.
