EVENT DETAILS
Want to take your fabrication skills to the next level?
NYDesigns is hosting this beginners workshop to get acquainted with using a CNC router. The class will be taught on the Techno HD4896 CNC router. Learn the basic skills to inspire your next project!

The class will include:

The applications of CNC Routing and the variety of projects it can be used for

How to prepare a file for the CNC Router from almost any graphics program (we will be using Adobe Illustrator)

How to import your file into the CNC Router software (Aspire)

How to path your project and program the CNC Router to cut out your piece

Use the CNC Router to run your file and cut out your project

Leave with the knowledge of how to operate the CNC Router to use to create your next project!

The class will take place at the NYDesigns FabLab, our 5,000 square foot, on-site fabrication lab that allows makers to prototype design concepts in a safe, secure facility. In addition to the laser cutter, the FabLab is equipped with an array of tools, both analog and digital, including traditional hand and power tools, 3D printers, CNC Routers, a vacuum former, and an FDM rapid prototyper.

Walk out of the class confident in your ability and ready to tackle your next great project. And we'll do you one even better - sign up for a NYDesigns FabLab Membership and you'll get the price of the class off of your first month's membership fee. (Offer cannot be combined with other membership discounts).

FAQs
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

The class is open to all skill levels but participants must be over 18.

Is there a dress code?

Yes, since you will be working with advanced fabrication equipment please wear closed toe shoes and try to avoid loose fitting clothing. If you have long hair please bring something to tie your hair back with.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Parking is slim. We would not recommend driving. You can take the E/G/M/7 to Court Square or the E/F/M/R to Queens Plaza. It is about a 15 minute walk over to our location from either station.

What can I bring into the event?

You are welcome and encouraged to bring your own computer with some simple vector files if you would like to try cutting your own design. It will be up to the discretion of the instructor if there is time and resources to cut your file.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Feel free to email info@nydesigns.org with any questions.

What's the refund policy?

Space is very limited so our refund policy is strict. Full refund will only be granted if request is made 24 hours in advance. Email info@nydesigns.org to request a refund.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

Yes. You signed up for a class but can't make it so you want to give it to a friend? No problem. Please email us at info@nydesigns.org to let us know. Registration can be transfered up to the start of the class.
