Kyle Detwiler
Co-founder & CEO, Northern Swan
Northern Swan is an opportunistic, New York-based investment firm focused on early & late-stage investments in cannabis & cannabis-related companies. We pursue opportunities globally. Northern Swan's investment professionals have collectively invested in excess of $3 billion of capital at Blackstone, KKR, & Och-Ziff prior to founding Northern Swan.
Prior to co-founding Northern Swan in August of 2017, Mr. Detwiler co-founded Silver Swan- an investment firm focused in several niche & underfollowed sectors. Mr. Detwiler was a Principal at The Blackstone Group, a leading alternative investment manager with $344 billion of assets under management. As an early member of the Tactical Opportunities Fund, Mr. Detwiler was involved in the management or served as a board member in 7 investments with roughly $1 billion of Blackstone capital, including LocusPoint Networks (television broadcasting & spectrum), Phoenix Tower International (wireless towers in the US & Latin America), Wireless Capital Partners (real estate attached to wireless towers), Philadelphia Financial Group (insurance), One Market Plaza (commercial real estate) & a residential real estate platform in New York City.
Previously, Mr. Detwiler was a member of the private equity practice at Kohlberg, Kravis, Roberts & Co. (KKR), focusing on transactions in the oil & gas, energy, natural resource & health care sectors. He began his career as an investment banker at Morgan Stanley.
Mr. Detwiler graduated with distinction from Harvard Business School & cum laude from Princeton University.
