This workshop will provide a beginner-friendly introduction to D3.js., a JavaScript library for manipulating documents based on data using HTML, SVG, & CSS. D3s emphasis on web standards gives you the full capabilities of modern browsers without tying yourself to a proprietary framework, combining powerful visualization components & a data-driven approach to DOM manipulation.
What to Know & Bring
Bring a laptop with charger. You should have some familiarity with:
* HTML
* CSS
* Javascript
A++ if you have experience with Web Dev, Design, Data Analysis & GitHub
About the Speaker
Mollie Pettit is a full-time Data Scientist at Datascope Analytics working on projects involving interactive data visualizations, exploratory data analysis, optimization, corporate data exploration tool creation, course development, & ideation workshops. Before transitioning into data science, Mollie worked as a petrophysicist in Abu Dhabi & as a scientific researcher at Stanford University (where she co-authored scientific papers on water driven slope instability & coastal erosion). Mollie has BS degrees in mathematics & geology from WVU & a MS in geology from Stanford University.
