Sports/Media/Tech Startup Bootcamp
Application Deadline: April 13, 2018
In partnership with NYC Media Lab, Verizon & Yahoo Sports will award $5,000 grants to four teams of entrepreneurs, technologists, engineers & product-driven designers who endeavor to build new ventures focusing on one of the themes below:
How can 5G & an Intelligent Edge network impact the fan experience at next-generation sports stadiums, arenas & other connected venues?
How can 5G & an Intelligent Edge network enable more compelling & meaningful e-sports experiences for gamers & fans?
How can mobile-first applications of emerging media technology like augmented reality, computer vision, & personalization algorithms engage the generation Z (born in the mid 1990s to early 2000's) audience for sports?
Four teams will be selected to participate in this bootcamp. Kicking off in June of 2018, NYC Media Lab will execute an 8-week Lean Launchpad program to encourage & support customer discovery & market validation. The goal is to spawn new startups. Participants will have the opportunity to pitch their concept in a concluding demo day in August 2018.
Faculty & students at an accredited NYC university are eligible to apply.
**The expected time commitment for each startup team for this program is ~30 hours per week per team member.
