Assassin's Creed: behind & beyond with Maxime Durand of Ubisoft

Assassin's Creed is one of the most popular video game franchises since its debut in 2007. Players have been traveling through time & space in various episodes drawn from roughly 2,500 years throughout history. While each game has been built for entertainment purposes, historical & archeological research have increasingly inspired the creators of the franchise. Through the eyes & experience of the presenter, attendees will gain an understanding of the development process, including constraints & the many opportunities that arise during the production of an Assassin's Creed game, with the newest opus, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, set to launch on November 10.

Days after graduating with a degree in History from Universit de Montral in 2010, Maxime Durand joined Ubisoft to work as the Assassin's Creed franchise historian. Making his grand debut with Assassin's Creed III, he has contributed to most of the Assassin's Creed games & projects ever since, including the educational game mode, Discovery Tour, as well as museum partnerships. His main interest is to inspire his talented work colleagues to create fun & immersive game experiences. Maxime is a historian by trade, a game designer by experience, & an active member of the academic community regarding game-based learning & digital heritage.
