Join us for a breakfast on January 21st featuring Amber Case, research fellow at the Institute for the Future & author of Calm Technology, in conversation with Team Human author & host Douglas Rushkoff, about how we can optimize technology for human beings instead of the other way around. Everything from a technology's user interface & energy consumption to its privacy settings & business plan can be developed with an eye toward creating tools that do what their users say.

Amber Case is an internationally recognized design advocate & speaker. She is the author of Calm Technology & Designing With Sound, & a research fellow at the Institute for the Future. She spent two years as a fellow at MIT's Center for Civic Media & Harvard's Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society.

Named one of Magazine's 30 under 30 & Fast Company's Most Influential Women in Technology, Case gives keynote talks at conferences around the globe. She's run workshops at companies including Microsoft, Airbnb, Samsung, Virgin Global, & Bloomberg. She was the co-founder & CEO of Geoloqi, a location-based software company acquired by Esri.

Douglas Rushkoff is the host of the Team Human podcast & author of Team Human as well as a dozen other bestselling books on media, technology, & culture, including, Throwing Rocks at the Google Bus: How Growth Became the Enemy of Prosperity, Present Shock, Program or Be Programmed, Media Virus, & the novel Ecstasy Club.

He is Professor of Media Theory & Digital Economics at CUNY/Queens. He wrote the graphic novels Aleister & Adolf, Testament, & A.D.D., & made the television documentaries Generation Like, Merchants of Cool, The Persuaders, & Digital Nation.
