About the Panelists:

has an extensive background in corporate business development, strategy, venture capital, general management, & product development. He is currently Vice President of Corporate Investment & Development at HTC. He focuses on virtual/augmented reality, smart phone, & IoT technologies. He held a similar role at SK Telecom with a focus on mobile technologies. Earlier at CDIB Ventures, Praveen was a partner & involved in raising two venture capital funds & several successful investments in enterprise software, infrastructure, & semiconductor companies. He has authored three books related to venture capital. Praveen has held management & technical roles at Lucent, Ericsson, ICL, & Halliburton. Praveen has an MBA & an M.S. in Physics, EE, & Computer Science

Teppei Tsutsui is the CEO & Managing Director of GFR Fund in San Francisco & has been an active investor for the past decade, During his career, Teppei led several key investments & acquisitions in Tokyo, Japan, including GREE's acquisitions of OpenFeint & Funzio, Prior to working for GREE, Teppei was a key advisor for Morgan Stanley's M&A strategy at Morgan Stanley, focusing on investments in Asia. He also worked in Japan in business development at Mitsubishi Corporation. Teppei earned a bachelor's degree in law from Hitotsubashi University & an MBA from the University of Chicago.


About the Moderator


Bill Ahmannis a partner in the Intellectual Property Practice Group in Sheppard Mullin's Palo Alto office.
Bill focuses on intellectual property law in the fields of wireless networks, telecommunications, computers, software, semiconductors, electronics, security, business methods, & the Internet.
Other areas of his practice include patent prosecution, licensing, litigation, copyright, trademark procurement, & designs protection. Bill has worked with a number of clients, rendering patent opinions, including invalidity & noninfringement opinions, focusing on patent prosecution & patent analysis, & establishing internal patent procurement programs & competitive analysis.
Bill has drafted, supervised, and/or prosecuted approximately 600 patent applications, & has filed and/or prosecuted dozens of reexaminations. He has been involved in multiple litigations matters & monetization efforts. He also has served as primary counsel in many licensing negotiations.
Bill holds a J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of Law & a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Missouri.
