In the wake of the tragedy, Daniel Doctoroff, deputy mayor at the time, was charged with navigating the city's entrenched financial & political interests to spearhead its economic resurgence. Join Doctoroff, now founder & CEO of the Alphabet company Sidewalk Labs, & veteran New York Times reporter Charles Bagli for a conversation about the city's dramatic & unexpected recovery, inspired by Doctoroff's book, Greater than Ever: New York's Big Comeback (PublicAffairs, 2017).

About the Speakers:
Charles Bagli has been a reporter at The New York Times for more than 20 years, covering the intersection of real estate & politics. He has also worked at The Brooklyn Phoenix, The Tampa Tribune, the Daily Record, & the New York Observer. He is the author of Other People's Money; Inside the Housing Crisis & the Demise of the Greatest Real Estate Deal Ever Made (Plume, 2014).
Daniel Doctoroff is founder & CEO of Sidewalk Labs, an Alphabet company that works with cities to build products that address big urban problems. Prior to launching Sidewalk, he was CEO & president of Bloomberg LP, the leading provider of financial news & information. From 2002 to 2008, he was New York City's deputy mayor for economic development & rebuilding.
