Dr. Trevino will give an introduction to fields of nanotechnology & nanoscience, describing the wide range of disciplines & technologies it encompasses. He will highlight several application spaces where nanotechnology is currently used, including medical, military, computing, food, fashion & industrial & consumer applications, & will give perspectives on future applications. The presentation will be accessible to all in attendance & we encourage individuals from all careers & backgrounds to attend. A lively & open discussion will follow the talk.
Join us at 6:30 for drinks & networking at NYC's premier tech incubator (New Lab). The talk will begin at 7:00pm with further networking & discussions continuing after the talk.
Dr. Trevino Is currently the Principal Scientist at Chemeleon, a Brooklyn, NY based start-up company developing next generation colorimetric chemical & biological sensors. He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at Columbia University in the Department of Electrical Engineering & is the founder of Nanotech NYC, an organization that aims to foster the continued growth of the nanotechnology community in the greater NYC area. Previously, he was the founding Director of the CUNY Advanced Science Research Center NanoFabrication Facility, as well as a Research Associate Professor & faculty in the Physics & Chemistry PhD Programs at the CUNY Graduate Center & Biomedical Engineering department at CCNY. New Lab is located inside the Brooklyn Navy Yard, just behind the Cumberland Gate at the intersection of Flushing Avenue & Cumberland Street. Address: 19 Morris Ave. Brooklyn, NY 11205.
Directions:
Option 1: Take the F train to the York Street stop. From there, you can walk via the following instructions. Right on York Street. Follow York until it intersects Navy Street. Right on Navy Street, left on Flushing Avenue. The Cumberland Gate on your left-hand side. You can also take the B57 bus from Jay St/ Willoughby St. to Flushing Av/Cumberland St. from the F stop.
Option 2: Take the A or C train to High Street / Brooklyn Bridge stop. From there, you can walk via the following instructions. Sands Street to Navy Street, right on Navy Street, left on Flushing Avenue. The Cumberland Gate will be on your left-hand side.
Option 3: Take the NYC Ferry from East 34th St. to the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
