In collaboration with the Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU), the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) initiative is organizing a conference on The Role of Global Citizenship Education in the 2030 Agenda & Beyond on Thursday, 26 April 2018, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at United Nations Headquarters in New York in Conference Room 3. The event will be webcast. Global citizenship education aims to empower learners to meet global challenges & become proactive contributors to a more just, peaceful, tolerant, inclusive, secure & sustainable world.While the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development will be an underlying concern of the discussion, this year brings the seventieth anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; & the significance of global citizenship education for the promotion & protection as well as the exercise of human rights will also be addressed at the conference. The panel discussion will take place following a presentation on "Global Citizenship Education & the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in a Challenging Context" by Prof. Hyo-Je Cho, Professor of Sociology at Sungkonghoe University.

Registered names must match exactly the name as it appears on a United Nations Member State-issued identification (e.g. passport, driver's license), which must also be presented for admission.Additional details regarding admission badge issuance will be emailed to all participants on 24 April 2018.
