We know the subject of fundraising is a broad one, so consider this the start of a much larger conversation - & there's isn't a more important place to start than with gender bias. A startling 94% of female founders experience bias in fundraising, according to Crunchbase. We're going to explain what that means, what that looks like & how we can turn these challenges into opportunities that will work to close the funding gaps. For example, we've seen the statistics that show how few women are at the helm of venture-backed startupsand how little funding they receive:all-women teams received just $1.9 billion of the $85 billion total invested by venture capitalists in 2017, according to PitchBook. To put that in perspective, that's roughly 2.2% of the total. Teams with only men at the helm, however, received about $66.9 billion, or around 79%. Let's change these numbers together.
