Abstract:
What are containers? Why do they need to be Orchestrated? Why is everyone talking about Kubernetes? This talk is a run-down of containers, Kubernetes, & why people are buzzing about them. We'll discuss all of the above in terms of benefits, trade-offs, & common pain-points. It won't be all sunshine & rainbows: the goal of this presentation is to discuss the Kubernetes ecosystem frankly, & to give context for some of the hype. In addition to this more holistic view, we'll also add some detail by demoing. We'll show how to deploy a container to your a local Kubernetes cluster to give you a tangible feel for the system.

Paul has a knack for & demystifying infrastructure, & making gnarly, complex topics approachable.
