Hello to our NYC tech community,
We invite you to join us on Feb 22nd for a Black History Month Celebration!
The goal of the event is to provide the local Black tech community & allies with access to resources available at DigitalOcean including mentors for founders, career advice, & engineering advice. The space will be split into stations & attendees are welcome to roam freely or spend time connecting with other like-minded technologists. Here are some of the stations we have planned for you:
Career corner - stop by the Career station for career guidance. DO Recruiters will be available to review resumes, answer job-searching questions & even help you prepare for your next interview. Book time with one of our career mentors: http://do.co/2BeuZmf
Startup mentors (product team) - Product Managers, Founders & VPs will be available to talk about your business or startup idea. Get their take on scaling a business & product. Book time with one of our startup mentors: http://do.co/2EqxHHm
Engineering mentors - DO Engineers will be available to review code with you, take a look at a side project & give feedback or just talk about how they got started in engineering. Book time with one of our engineering mentors: http://do.co/2BI2MFE
Well have food, beverages, music & space to mingle throughout the night. All food & entertainment for the night will be supporting local Black-owned businesses. Here is the full agenda:

6:00pm-7:00pm - Check-in
6:30pm-6:45pm - Welcoming remarks, tour of space (which stations are where)
6:45pm-8:30pm - Walk around, mingle, visit each station
8:45pm-9:00pm - Closing remarks
Black History Month is a time to honor the contributions & accomplishments of African Americans throughout history. We hope you will join us on this special day, during this special month. With this event & other efforts our goal is to educate each other about the specific month, provide access to resources to the groups being highlighted, celebrate the heritage & acknowledge the history behind the heritage months existence.
