EVENT DETAILS
Application architectures are diverse & have evolved over the past decade. Applications today can be built as a single application with a set of small stateless services, larger distributed applications that include a system of interconnected microservices, or the traditional scale-up application.

In addition to traditional EC2 instances that are commonly utilized, today's architectures may also demand new compute primitives that enable faster & immutable deployments of stateless applications: containers & serverless architectures. The former allows you to easily package your application into easy-to-use building blocks that deliver environmental consistency & enable more streamlined developer workflows, while the latter lets you build & run applications without needing to provision, manage, & scale infrastructure.

Over this week, we will explore how you can leverage the AWS platform to build & run any application including containerized & serverless applications. We will also demonstrate how you can build a range of applications from data processing systems to web applications & hear from AWS experts about how you could use Amazon EC2, Amazon ECS & AWS Lambda your production needs.

Who should attend

Development teams, engineers, architects, & system administrators who are eager to learn how to deploy applications in highly available, scalable architectures.

Prerequisites

To participate in the labs at the Loft you must do these things to prepare in advance:

1. Have a laptop which will allow you to access AWS SDKs, AWS Console & the AWS CLI - this means that you have no restrictions on the machine that would prevent you from making a connection to the AWS environment.

2. A valid, usable AWS account with admin privileges. This should not be an AWS account from the company you work for. This should be a personal account (if you don't have one you should create one before attending the loft). AWS Credits will be provided to cover the cost of the labs.

3. Have installed the AWS CLI

4. Have installed the AWS Python SDK

5. Have become familiar with the AWS Console
