EVENT DETAILS
An iconic, independent developer conference By the Bay

Scale By the Bay is in its 6th year. It is a flagship independent developer conference, a proven software & data engineering community event strong on advanced learning, open-source best practices, & industry focus on what works. We are powered by the global leaders in thoughtful software engineering working in the startups & enterprises of the Bay Area - & around the world - who build web-scale systems in ways that are rigorous, composable, correct by design, scalable, & performant.

We started as Funconf, continued as Scala By the Bay 2014 & 2015, Big Data Scala, & evolved into Scala+Scale=Scal, land then Scale By the Bay from the last year, reflecting the openness to the top programming languages, devops platforms, & as ML/AI stacks. Text By the Bay, Data By the Bay, & AI By the Bay followed. Scaling the whole stacks requires more than just advanced programming languages - hardware, IoT & devops need to work together. This year, we combine Data & Scale together in a three track, three day conference, known for production focus & engineering excellence both in software engineering & data science, & are bringing the two together.

We're light on product pitches - all talks have code or data. The community conference represents many San Francisco Bay Area open-source meetups comprised of tens of thousands of developers, with hands-on technology leaders as speakers who are known & respected by the engineering community around the world. We often introduce stacks that are pioneering & then take over the industry in the next few years. Check out an in-depth overview of the program for more details about this year, our strongest yet!

See all videos from the previous meet ups & conferences at FunctionalTV & enjoy photos from previous years of SBTB - see the beautiful Twitter HQ where we'll be in November. Hope you join us!
