Speaker Bios
Elle Wu is an experienced Pharma/Biotech IP attorney with top law firms & in-house experiences. Elle obtained her JD from Santa Clara University. She was also a Post-doctoral Fellow at Stanford University & obtained her PhD from University of Toronto, Canada.

Alex Chen is the head of patent litigation & risk mitigation at TikTok/ByteDance. Alex previously worked at Disney, Facebook, Qualcomm, & law firms.

Wei Chen is responsible for Infoblox's legal functions & compliance & governance programs. Wei is a seasoned legal executive with over 20 years of experience scaling operations, strengthening compliance, building strong teams & championing innovations. Prior to joining Infoblox in 2022, Wei served as Senior Vice President & Associate General Counsel of Strategic Transactions at Salesforce. She also previously served as Assistant General Counsel at Sun Microsystems & was a corporate associate at Cooley LLP & Skadden.

Lawrence (Larry) Chew is Vice President & Associate General Counsel, & leads the commercial legal function at Varian Medical Systems, now a Siemens Healthineers company. Varian is the largest med-tech company focused on advanced radiotherapy, imaging, & interventional oncology products, software & services that treat cancer. His internal clients include, among others, the product, software, engineering, research, manufacturing, strategic alliance, information security, finance, sales & support service teams. Prior to Varian, he headed up the corporate securities & commercial legal functions at publicly traded technology & investment management companies. He is a graduate of the UCLA School of Law & the University of California at Berkeley.

Tim Chu is responsible for all aspects of Harmonic's legal affairs, including corporate governance, commercial transactions, intellectual property, licensing, M&A, data privacy, compliance & litigation. He also leads Harmonic's global human resources function & oversees the company's talent & engagement initiatives, organizational strategies, & HR programs & processes. Prior to joining Harmonic, Timothy served as General Counsel & Vice President, Administration at Phoenix Technologies., a core systems & application software company that he helped take private through a sale to Marlin Equity Partners. Previously, Tim served as Director of Corporate Legal Affairs & Assistant Secretary at Solectron Corporation, a Fortune 500 electronics manufacturing services company that was sold to Flextronics for $3.6 billion. Tim began his legal career as an associate in the New York & Helsinki offices of White & Case LLP before joining Venture Law Group in Silicon Valley as a senior attorney. Tim earned his B.A. in Economics & Chinese Literature & Language & his J.D. from the University of Michigan.

Chia-Hao La is the Head of IP at Waymo (formerly the Google Self-Driving Car Project), where his team is responsible for portfolio development, transactions, dispute resolution, & counseling related to all classes of IP. Before joining Waymo, Chia worked on Google's patent team for almost ten years, most recently leading patent strategy for Android, Play, Chrome, & Photos. He previously worked at Ropes & Gray in New York as a patent litigation associate & as a patent agent while attending law school.
