Istio has become a great solution for managing, developing, & operating an microservice application mesh. When you decide to develop your system with containers, there is a moment when fine-tuning Kubernetes & Load Balancing makes all the difference. This session would explore techniques one can use to optimize infrastructure modernization through resiliency testing, load balancing, security, & monitoring by bringing Istio as the open source-based solution.
In this session you will learn about the following Istio capabilities:
smart routing & intelligent switching
resiliency testing of an app
policy enforcement
telemetry, & reporting

How to get ready for our Wednesday Istio workshop?
Be sure to download Docker, test it as shown below, & sign up for IBM Cloud before you arrive.
Feel free to bring your laptop & we will do all the steps together.
In order to participate please install Docker Community Edition on your laptop (available for Mac, & for Windows).
Preparation
In order to get ready & take the full advantage of the Containers workshop it is recommended to install the prerequisite software:
STEP 1 - Docker for Mac or Windows (and other) machines - just visit the following Docker Community Edition page - https://hub.docker.com/search/?type=edition&offering=community
STEP 2 - the Cloud account - to start your adventure in the cloud please use IBM Cloud sign up page for the free Lite IBM Cloud account dedicated for this WWCode workshop - https://ibm.biz/BdzCkm
STEP 3 - In order to test your Docker installation by writing in the terminal: docker run ubuntu echo Hello World You should be able to see "Hello World" message.
STEP 4 - Then please run: docker run node:10
This command should download all the necessary components for our small coding example!
DONE! These two commands confirm the installation of the Docker - & you are ready for our workshop! See you there!
