In 2014, Bryce Olson, an Intel executive, was diagnosed with stage IV cancer. He should not be alive today based on his prognosis. But he fought cancer differently. He used DNA sequencing data to break into a perfect-fit drug trial, engineering an exceptional response' & shutting down his cancer for 2 years. He also created FACTS (Fighting Advanced Cancer Through Songs) as a movement that uses the power of music to build awareness for a new way to fight cancer.
In 2017 his cancer came back. At SXSW 2017, he released what is probably the first album written about the cancer experience, by someone fighting cancer, & performed by many musicians & singers - many who are cancer survivors. Stream it on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/album/5fXNIm3R9AFNbogc0qvrVb
As a pioneer in an era of Precision Medicine 2.0', Bryce works side by side with the scientific, medical, & technology industry to keep him alive . Join us at this event to meet Bryce, hear his story, & learn about the latest advances in precision medicine & how patients can access them.
Bryce says:
"Genomic sequencing gave me a life I didn't think I'd get to live. I fought cancer differently & will explain how I use the latest in science & technology to stay one step ahead of my cancer.
"Our goal is to expand molecular testing & precision medicine to as many advanced cancer patients as possible. This video captures the story pretty well: bit.ly/2kpzrTj
"I'm also Intel's Marketing Director for Health & Life Sciences. One of the areas I focus on is bringing technology & science together in the exciting area of genomics & personalized medicine. I love connecting the advances in life sciences into clinical settings & helping patients understand these new opportunities.
"I'm Stage IV & fired up - but cancer won't take me down. I'm a dad, surfer, songwriter & I'm into social good."
