X Academy Series: Founder Academy

Founder Academy is a five-day virtual curriculum & educational experience for founders who are post Seed but haven't raised a Series A round. It is organized by San Francisco-based Epic Events founded by Anna Cho, Founding Partner of First Check Ventures & Anna Cho Syndicate. This application only, merit based program will dive into topics from "Team & Culture" to "Negotiating a Term Sheet". The speaker lineup features prominent & up-and-coming investors & founders.

This is a virtual event, & you will be able to join us online from the comfort of your own home to learn from the greatest minds in building the next unicorn. You'll hear what is top of mind for investors & network with a global community of fellow pioneers, & leverage the best part of a COVID-induced virtual world: being able to connect with & hear from your esteemed peers where distance is no longer relevant!

Mitchell Weinstock is a Partner at HP Tech Ventures, the corporate venture arm of HP, where he identifies promising, leading-edge technology startups & pursues strategic investments & partnerships to help those companies bring products to market & scale as they grow.

Externally liaising with the worldwide institutional VCs & the Corporate Venture community, country trade missions as well as HP Labs, HP business groups, their customers & their partners, Mitchell is defining new market segments, products & business models that will help shape HP's future growth.

An expert in monetization of nascent technologies & operational experience in new product marketing, Mitchell has worked with some of the biggest names, products & architectures from Apple QuickTime, to the first Razer gaming mouse. He has helped & survived through five early & later stage startups including Kinoma, Generic Media, Sonic Solutions, SuperMac, & Karna/Razer.

Mitchell is a graduate of the Venture Capital Executive Program at the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business. He graduated from Walter Cronkite School of Journalism & Mass Communication, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism & Mass Communication. A native New Yorker, he currently resides in San Jose, California where he hybridizes & grafts fruit trees. Occasionally, he will still wear a tie.

John is the consummate early stage investor; a curious, diligent & experienced mentor to founders spanning industries from software & semiconductors to microelectronics & medical devices. His passion for investing in early-stage companies is what led him to co-found IDEA Fund Partners more than 12 years ago & what has driven him to continue through up & down cycles. John has used a deep understanding of technology commercialization & company formation, along with his experience managing intellectual property, licensing & contracts, to help grow technology companies throughout the Southeast. Working in the technology sector since 1994, John has held various operational roles & was involved in the spin-off of four companies from MCNC, including the formation & ultimate sale of Cronos Integrated Microsystems to JDS Uniphase for $665 million in 2000.

-Mathieu Guerville - Director, North America, Valutico - Selling & collaborating to large companies

Mathieu is a Growth, Operations, & Innovation enabler focusing on fintech & traditional industries. He is an Adjunct Professor at IE Business School. As an angel investor, former VC & M&A professional, Mathieu has deployed over $200 million of capital deployed towards inorganic growth.

Whitney Sales is a business leader with over ten years of sales experience, & yes, in a twist of a self-fulfilling prophecy, Sales is her actual surname. She is a General Partner at Acceleprise Ventures & creator of The Sales Method. Prior to Acceleprise, Whitney helped four companies gain entry to the 5000 Fastest Growing Companies list, including LoopNet (IPO), Joby (acquired), Meltwater (acquired), & Tallie (acquired). The Sales Method is Whitney's winning analytical process that looks at Sales-Market fit to align to a target market's buying process, to ultimately help companies scale to market faster.
