Illumina Ventures is a life sciences venture capital fund with an emphasis on platform technologies & a partnership with Illumina. The $230M fund invests primarily in Series A tools, diagnostics, & therapeutics companies with a focus on early-stage, disruptive science & platforms. The investment team members have strong scientific & extensive entrepreneurial backgrounds & aim to add value for all of their portfolio companies. On Thursday April 24th 2018, Noel Lee & Wouter Meuleman, investment team members at Illumina Ventures, will give an overview presentation about the VC firm's key areas of interest. Following the presentation, you'll have the opportunity to introduce yourself to Wouter & Noel during the networking lunch. Prior to Illumina Ventures, Wouter worked at Illumina in various roles throughout the organization including R&D, Product Development, & Corporate Development. A physical chemist by training, he began his career in life sciences as first hire for Oxford University spin-out Oxamer, a company founded in 2003 by Prof. Sir Edwin Southern, where he led the development a benchtop DNA microarray fabrication platform. Following the company's incorporation into Oxford Gene Technology in 2005, he continued working alongside Prof. Southern leading R&D programs in areas such as single cell gene expression analysis & novel applications for DNA microarrays. He obtained his undergraduate & Master's degree in Chemistry from the University of Ghent, Belgium; a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Newcastle, U.K; & an MBA from the University of Cambridge, U.K. Connect with Wouter: Noel Jee PhD | Investment Associate Noel is an Investment Associate at Illumina Ventures, where he focuses on investments in life science tools & therapeutics. Prior to joining the fund, Noel worked at L.E.K. Consulting as a management consultant specializing in the life sciences. He has consulted on strategy engagements for companies in the pharmaceuticals, biotech, & diagnostics industries. Before joining L.E.K. Consulting, Noel helped to co-found & bootstrap the San Francisco-based medical device & digital health startup Knox Medical Diagnostics, where he led the initial business development.
