Join the NYU Entrepreneurial Institute virtually for our first networking event & talk for first generation to college founders, investors, & entrepreneurially curious students. Our guest speaker will share their startup story & we'll discuss resources for first generation to college students in creating innovative businesses at NYU.

If you're a first generation to college student from NYU or ANY university working on a startup & want to meet others working in the space, then this event is for you! Entrepreneurs at any stage in their startup journey are welcome to join. If you have just an idea, a new venture or an operating business, you're highly encouraged to attend.

About the guest speaker:

Wayne Mackey, Ph.D. (NYU GSAS '16) is the founder & CEO of Statespace, a platform which provides performance analytics & tools for casual gamers & Esports athletes to maximize their potential, using neuroscience & artificial intelligence. Statespace has successfully raised $19.5mm in VC funding to date & has grown to a team of 30+ employees. Their first product, Aim Lab, has over 3 million players.

Wayne received his B.A. in Psychology from Temple University & his Ph.D. in Cognition & Perception from NYU. His scientific work focuses on how the brain supports flexible behavior & decision-making, & he has published several peer-reviewed articles on human cognitive, perceptual, & motor abilities. His most recent work focuses on creating a new computational framework for short-term memory in both humans & machines. A lifelong gamer but terrible student, Dr. Mackey credits video games for opening up a path to a college education & his scientific career.

Dr. Mackey has won multiple awards & fellowships from various institutions, including the National Science Foundation, New York University, & the Simons Foundation.
