About this workshop
Design Thinking is a framework for solving problems using research to challenge assumptions & iterate rapidly on an idea. Human-Centered Design puts humans, communities, & environments at the center of the design process, building interventions with & not for them. While design thinking is largely used by tech companies, nonprofits can benefit from leveraging these principles in their program & project designs, whether they use tech or not.
This day-long training will use Human-Centered Design methodologies, such as user personas, journey mapping, & rapid ideation, in order to help nonprofits create a roadmap for improving their work. We will help participants leverage these principles to take a more intentional approach when designing interventions to address complex social issues by building those interventions with the help of the communities they hope to serve. All the activities & tools used in this training can be used by participants & their organizations for future projects.
We encourage nonprofits to come with a project idea they'd like to work out, in addition to registering with at least one team member to work alongside. Please, have each member register separately. If you cannot come with a team member, we will pair you with another participant.
