Vimeo Staff Picks curator Meghan Oretsky plucks the best shorts from her Vimeo channel "Ladies With Lenses" for a celebration of women who create beauty & magic on film. The filmmakers behind each short will be present for Q&As & an opportunity to mingle & network with likeminded filmmakers, film lovers & fellow cheerleaders will take place after the event. Expect positive vibes & quality vids!

"The Convention" by Jessica Dimmock

"The Convention" explores the annual Esprit gathering, where transgender women in their senior years who have been closeted their whole lives gather for a week of shared experience & understanding in a logging town in Northern Washington

Jessica Dimmock- Jessica Dimmock is the recipient of numerous international awards for her photography & video work. She is a Sundance Edit & Story Lab Fellow, & her first feature film The Pearl (co-directed by Christopher LaMarca) was awarded the Grand Jury Prize at the Dallas International Film Festival. Jessica is currently co-directing an episodic documentary series for Netflix.

An intimate & moving exploration of the experience of coming of age - under the gaze of state surveillance.

Katie Mitchell - Katie Mitchell is a documentary filmmaker & lawyer. Most recently she produced the feature documentary Solitary which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2016 & screened on HBO in 2017. She was a co-producer on the short documentary Just a Dog which premiered at Hot Docs in 2016.

Danielle Varga - Danielle Varga is a producer & documentary filmmaker based in Brooklyn, NY. She was a 2016/2017 Sundance Creative Producing Fellow, & most recently co-produced Kirsten Johnson's feature Cameraperson, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2016.

Christine Turner - Christine Turner is a filmmaker based in New York. Her critically-acclaimed documentary Homegoings, premiered at Documentary Fortnight at MoMA & was broadcast nationally on the PBS series POV. Christine's short fiction work includes Rubber Soles, You Can Go & most recently Hold On, which screened at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival.

Celia Bullwinkel - Celia Bullwinkel is an animator who lives & works in New York City.
