When building a real-world web or mobile application, there are many essential basic requirements. Building each of these services independently from scratch is both time consuming & expensive. Today, many developers are leveraging managed services to handle things like authentication, analytics, push notifications, storage & more.
This week we will explore how we can leverage serverless & managed AWS services, quickly & easily integrating what used to be complex functionality in minutes. We'll integrate web & mobile applications with features like secure file uploads with Amazon S3, serverless functions with AWS Lambda, & authentication with Amazon Cognito using the AWS Amplify open source library. We'll also learn how to easily build sophisticated managed GraphQL APIs using AWS Amplify & integrate the new APIs with web & mobile applications.
Prerequisites:
- A laptop & active AWS account
- Basic knowledge of AWS & its services
Session levels range from 100-300. More information on levels here.

Who should attend
Development teams, web, native & mobile developers who are eager to learn how to build real-world full stack applications on AWS.
To follow along with the workshops, the attendees will need the following installed:
Node.js version 8.x or greater
npm version 5.x or greater
To follow along with the React Native workshop Building Mobile Applications with React Native & AWS Amplify, you will need to have one of the following installed in advance:
React Native CLI or Expo CLI, + the necessary dependencies & SDKs as listed here: https://facebook.github.io/react-native/docs/getting-started
Please Initialize & run a new React Native project on either the mobile simulator (iOS or Android) on your device. These instructions are also outlined in the URL above. Please note, these installations can take anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours, so please complete prior to arriving at the Loft.
