Business Development Manager

The role of the Development Manager is to expand the Katerra brand exposure in the local region resulting in winning work. This role, along with the key leadership of the region, becomes the trusted relationship the client is looking for when making their buying decision. The role includes coordinating closely with the regional leadership team to create strategic plans for the future of Katerra in the region.

Ultimate responsibility of this role results in winning the right type of work for the future success & growth of Katerra in the Southwestern Region.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Opportunities

  • Through research, determine the best markets for Katerras future success
  • Represent the firm to clients/peer organizations/business associates
  • Create new client opportunities
  • Stay current with market trends & adjust strategies as necessary
  • Filter client & project opportunities appropriate to Katerras goals/KPOs
  • Manage & grow existing client relationships
  • Participate in local municipal & industry related groups to develop relationships with city officials & prominent business owners
  • Join & participate in client & architectural industry organizations to promote Katerra, develop new clients, find project opportunities & shape the markets perception of Katerra
  • Conduct market research on clients, projects, & peer organizations
  • Organize events with clients, influencers & other pursuit stakeholders to maintain contact & develop deeper & more personal relationships
  • With regional support, take ownership of pursuits, from initial contact through interviews/presentation

Doer-Seller Management

  • Collaborate with project teams, including them in relationship building & pursuits
  • Grow project teams skills to better maintain long term client relationships
  • Promote a positive culture for Katerra
  • Coordinate special events for regional office

Brand Management

  • Coordinate appropriate industry trade show attendance
  • Create positive media exposure for Katerra
  • Develop templates to ensure Katerra brand is utilized on all client documents
  • Participate in client & community organizations & events to promote Katerra
  • Manage recognition/award opportunities
  • Attend specific trade shows & other client / market driven events on behalf of Katerra

Internal Systems

  • Manage opportunities & contacts in Customer Relationship Management system
  • Develop & maintain budget for all a development related activities
  • Maintain marketing database of regional project & staff records
  • Maintain presentation/proposal archive for region
  • Write press releases for special events
  • Monitor competitor activity in the community
  • Monitor key client activity in the community
  • Media monitoring
  • Implement corporate branding standards
  • Social media support

Required Skills & Experience

  • Buy-in of the Katerra Vision & Mission statements
  • Excellent written, verbal, & presentation communications skills
  • Knowledge of key players in the region, market, & industry
  • Available to travel within the region as necessary
  • Good understanding of construction industry
  • Computer knowledge & efficiency, including Microsoft Office products
  • Experience with business planning
  • Understand current market conditions
  • Ability to maintain discretion & confidentiality at all times
  • Excellent time management & organizational skills
