Vox is looking for a Junior Archive Producer for the second season of our Netflix docuseries Explained. The job will involve working closely with the Producers & Archive Producer to make our show possible: finding & acquiring footage, securing clearances, negotiating licenses, reviewing scripts, screening episodes, tracking use of third party material, & staying on budget. Our show relies heavily on archival, & candidates should have a passion for old & unusual footage, & bringing images & clips to the screen that viewers wont have seen before. Candidates should also have a familiarity with major archives, & the timelines & prices associated with certain kinds of footage. We need someone who can stay organized while juggling multiple stories, & enjoys working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven television environment.
The job is full-time & in-house for five months, based in New York City.
What youll do:
- Acquire archival footage on a range of topics, from the arts to science & technology
- Secure clearances & negotiating licenses
- Keep track of third party material
- Keep track of archival costs
What youll bring:
- Two+ years experience working in licensing & clearances
- Experience in a fast-paced news environment
- Experience working on archive heavy projects
- Experience working with major archives
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
