You know when to code things quickly & when to take the time to make sure things are reliable, you know your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities & limits. You consider yourself a nimble learner, you're willing to take on unfamiliar tasks, extract lessons & learn from failures & mistakes.
Coworkers would describe you as a flexible, open communicator that can balance taking action with driving results and you know/can clearly articulate the difference. You are also someone who takes personal responsibility for your work & holds others accountable to do the same.
You are passionate about designing systems that power great end-user experiences. You care deeply about system performance, especially where it impacts customers. You enjoy discussing these decisions with your peers & can explain their significance to external stakeholders.
You have three or more years of experience working on a team that uses Ruby on Rails. We write most of our core systems in Ruby, but we also use ElasticSearch, MySQL, PostgreSQL. We would be really impressed if you had experience with AWS, ElasticSearch or other eCommerce experience.
What the role is
In this Software Engineer role, you will be an integral part of the engineering team, responsible for executing on our product roadmaps against the back-end of our consumer & partner (think dispensary operations) tools with aggressive timelines during rapid growth. Since it's a small team you'll work closely with product managers, customer experience, marketing, & business development management teams, you will balance having your hands on the keyboard with leading design discussions for large projects & informing some of our largest decisions. You'll work with senior engineering to learn & expand our systems.
