The Role

We are looking for a Strategic Partnership Associate to work with our Business Development team here in our Toronto office.  As a Strategic Partnership Associate, you will be required to quickly ramp on insurance industry & product knowledge. You will work with the Head of Business Development to support partnerships, integrations, & platforms that will drive distribution to Cover or improve our operational efficiency.  You will do this alongside a team of colleagues who have founded & exited successful tech startups, & come from a diverse set of technology companies.

Responsibilities:

  • Owning all aspects of business development, partner diligence, & relationship management.  This will include:

    • Developing a framework for vetting partnership opportunities for their strategic, technical, or distribution value to Cover

    • Spearheading outreach efforts to distribution partners, inclusive of, but not limited to auto dealership networks, e-commerce platforms, strategic merchants, fintech platforms, banks, other insurance companies, hardware vendors

    • Drafting comprehensive plans for each key partnership

    • Managing & expanding partnerships where there are lasting value

  • Assisting with hands-on execution, including negotiating business terms & communicating technical requirements

  • Managing multiple projects at once with a constant focus towards top priorities

  • Conducting continuous market research to maintain a healthy pipeline of potential partnership opportunities 

  • Traveling occasionally to do research, meet with existing partners, network with potential new partners 

 

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree, preferably with an engineering or business focus

  • 2 + Years of professional working experience in business development roles (experience at a Tech Startup is a plus!)

  • A track record of impact & success in previous roles

  • Outstanding presentation, verbal, & written communication skills

  • Self directed & comfortable with ambiguities

  • The ability to not be deterred - relentless in driving to impact

  • A keen interest in technology & keeping up to date with the latest developments
