Guardant Health develops breakthrough diagnostic technologies to improve cancer management. With Guardant360, we offer real-time, biopsy-free tumor sequencing that tracks tumor genomics in real-time & identifies associated treatment options. The assay is used by more than 6,000 oncologists & we partner with more than 50 biopharma companies.
Guardant Health raised over $550M from Sequoia Capital, Khosla Ventures, Lightspeed Ventures, OrbiMed & Softbank, before having a successful IPO on NASDAQ in 2018. Guardant is led by a seasoned management team of thought leaders & successful serial entrepreneurs in next generation sequencing & rare cell diagnostics. They are advised by an oncologist-led medical steering committee from leading cancer centers.
This internship has two areas of focus:
1. New Product Introductions (80%). You will lead a project evaluating new product introduction (NPI) opportunities for Guardant's biopharma business. This will require mapping the universe of potential NPIs, evaluating & prioritizing each on different dimensions, including technical feasibility, market opportunity, alignment with current product offering & positioning within the competitive landscape. You will work closely with customers, key opinion leaders, the Guardant biopharma business development, clinical development & technology development teams over the course of the project.
2. BioPharma Business Development (20%). You will spend a day a 20% of your time supporting biopharma business development on the West Coast. This will include lead generation, customer engagement, collaboration scoping & contracting, with the goal of providing experience of the business development process.
You are passionate about improving cancer patients' lives & outcomes.
You are a healthcare-focused MBA student with a strong, ideally scientific, academic track record. Your pre-MBA employment experience might have been in the healthcare industry, consulting or banking, & equipped you with the skill set to lead the above project.
You are a strong problem solver, with an ability to disaggregate issues, structure hypotheses, generate data & synthesize results for communication with senior executives. You are both scientifically & business literate ideally with experience in conducting market research & literature reviews. You are excited to apply your experience to the field of cancer biomarkers & diagnostics.
You work independently & are self-starting while also being collaborative.
In addition, you bring:
- BA or BS in science or economics. A PhD a plus.
- 4+ years professional experience
