About the Role:

As Betterments People Operations Specialist, youll be a key player in supporting processes & programs aligned with  our People Operations strategy at scale.  Youll leverage your extraordinary attention to detail to support day to day operations for the employee lifecycle (onboarding to offboarding), & act as the initial point of contact for employee inquiries spanning benefits, payroll, onboarding, etc.

Please note this role is not 100% remote eligible. Betterment has a hybrid in-office/remote workforce, & for this position we are looking to hire an individual that can be at NYC HQ as needed.

A Day in the Life: 

Payroll & Benefit Administration

  • Process bi-monthly payroll in Paylocity with oversight from Finance & HR teams.
  • Maintain & organize payroll data from our HRIS & 401k integrations, reviewing for changes or errors.
  • Work with our benefits providers to manage efficient benefit enrollment processes, audits, ongoing benefit education, & qualifying life event support.
  • Work with our third party leave management vendor to ensure a smooth & clear leave process for Betterment employees.

HRBP Support & People Operations

  • Support the HR Business Partners with core people functions including Performance Management, Compensation Reviews, Compliance & Training support. 
  • Help us ensure best in class employee support when responding to questions & resolving issues including employment verifications, access requests & claims. 

Maintain Employee Lifecycle Data 

  • As our People Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for the support, maintenance & configuration of our HRIS (BambooHR). 
  • You will ensure timely updates for our dynamic & growing team, including new hire information, & employee job information updates.
  • Act as a new employees first touchpoint with HR by tracking new hire onboarding progress & completion, coordinating with recruiters & HR to ensure all new hire forms are accurately completed & returned within the required timeframe. 
  • Provide support in data & process audits as needed to keep the HR Team in compliance with policies, procedures & state & federal laws.

What Were Looking For:

  • Relevant experience in a similar field (People Operations or HR & Benefits Administration)
  • Payroll Administration Experience is required
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Detail & process oriented; ability to handle confidential data professionally & with discretion

Bonus Points if You Have:

  • HRIS Experience (BambooHR or similar)
  • Benefit Administration Experience
  • GSuite (Google Sheets, Google Docs) Experience

What Happens Next?

We may ask you to complete a case study exercise or technical assessments, depending on the role, as we aim to collect a robust set of data points throughout the interview process.

On average, it takes us around 2-3 weeks to make a hiring decision, depending on your availability & sense of urgency. As a best practice, we aim to interview at least 3 final round candidates before making a hiring decision.
