Were hiring a Senior Product Manager for Web.

About our team & what well build together

We're looking for a seasoned product manager to join theSkimm's product team, & we hope its you. You are a seasoned, self-directed, confident product leader with a passion for building media-based web products & a toolbox of approaches to strategy, design, product development, organizational effectiveness, & team leadership. You will define the product strategy for our web site & its supporting systems. You will own the execution & delivery of all our web-focused initiatives. You will collaborate with our editorial, sales, & marketing teams to discover, develop, & ship products & features that deepen our relationship with her & grow our business. You will use research, analysis, & a deep understanding & empathy of her to determine how best to present, distribute, & market the content & services that she relies on.  

How youll contribute to our mission

  • Develop & iterate on the strategy, execution & success of the website product vision, thinking smartly about the technology we use & the best ways to ensure we are delivering our content to her in the most efficient & delightful way
  • Cross-collaborate with the design, engineering & data teams
  • Be responsible for the web roadmap, defining products & features that drive value, as well as overseeing the day-to-day operation of a dedicated team by participating in stand-ups & other ceremonies
  • Thrive on & evangelize making data driven decisions to improve the product
  • Have experience with multi-variant testing concepts & demonstrate & innate ability to synthesize quantitative & qualitative feedback
  • Prioritize the features & initiatives that will have the most impact on our business & embrace theSkimm's objectives & key results
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders on roadmap & KPI targets
  • Have a passion & curiosity for her experience to develop a deep understanding of her
  • Embrace research & work closely with our designers
  • Advocate for user-focused product initiatives & improvements 
  • Be up to date on best practices & industry standards for performance & optimization
  • Evaluate & act as the point of contact with vendors & third-party partners
  • Be responsible for understanding how to best leverage web related technologies either built internally or bought externally

Youre ready for this! Heres a bit more about what were looking for

  • 7+ years of product management experience ideally at a digital media company with a particular focus on web publishing
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders
  • Real world experience with agile processes & lean methodologies
  • Demonstrated knowledge of core web technologies is a must, including both front end & back end from Content Management Systems to Analytics
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills with the ability to organize & present thoughts clearly & concisely 
  • Strong, demonstrated ability to rally & bring varying functional teams together, & break through stalled decision making
  • Ability to think big, while paying attention to detail
  • Ability to balance consumer vision with business needs
  • Entrepreneurial spirit & a willingness to take risks & move into unchartered territory

What about the office?

This is a full-time role with flexibility for remote work. 

Our office is available to use three days a week - Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday. We have a hybrid environment & ask that employees within the New York Metro area come together in person a minimum of three days per month. All other days are up to the discretion of the employees during the three days a week that the office will be open. We are continuing to closely monitor the state of COVID-19 in New York & will adjust this plan accordingly.

We will require COVID-19 vaccinations for anyone coming to our office. We are following CDC recommendations & will also require additional boosters, & will always follow CDC & NY state guidance on wearing masks in the office.
