Hi, we're Oscar. Were hiring a Senior Manager to join our Brand Design team. 

Oscar is the first health insurance company built around a full stack technology platform & a relentless focus on serving our members. We started Oscar in 2012 to create the kind of health insurance company we would want for ourselvesone that behaves like a doctor in the family.

About the role:

The Brand Design Senior Manager works closely with the Creative Director & Senior Director of Brand to continually evolve how Oscars brand is experienced. You will grow a diverse team of designers while also having the freedom to experiment with your craft.

You will report into the Creative Director. This is a remote role, you will work remotely in one of the following states: Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, or Washington. Note, this list of states is subject to change.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of visual language concepts that push the boundaries of Oscars brand
  • Guide team in leading the creation of all brand deliverablesbe it advertising, editorial or environmental
  • Own Oscars design systems & help implement processes that allow teams to scale & ship creative quickly, reliably, & without compromise
  • Mentor, manage, & help recruit a world-class design team
  • Inspire a deeply creative culture
  • Clearly convey ideas, concepts, & the value of design to internal teams
  • Work collaboratively & independently to solve complex problems & find creative solutions to strategic objectives & requirements
  • Closely integrate with the Product & Marketing teams to ensure the spirit & vision of Oscar are accurately captured across all communication channels.
  • Provide constructive feedback & direction to external partners (agencies, studios, vendors), ensuring design best practices are upheld
  • Listen actively & be an effective communicator, in writing & in person
  • Ship small, quick experiments to validate ideas & opinions
  • Give & solicit feedback from others in order to continually raise our bar for quality

Requirements:

  • 6+ years as a designer & design manager  at recognized companies
  • An outstanding design portfolio showing a clean & modern aesthetic for visual narratives, with proven examples of conceptual thinking in storytelling, illustration, advertising, and  interactive
  • Strong knowledge of consumer brand strategy, branding, interaction design, technology, usability, & experience design
  • Demonstrated mastery of tools & empathy for customer needs
  • Experience working collaboratively with producers, directors, technologists, executive teams, & external vendors

Bonus points:

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Developed illustration & animation style(s)
  • Artistic pursuits in any medium
  • Pre-existing relationships with trusted partnersagencies, studios, vendors alike
