The Chief Financial Officer acts as the primary finance business partner to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Board of Directors, Executive Leadership Team, Finance organization & all Moda associates, customers & vendors. The Chief Financial Officer supports accurate, complete & timely management & optimization of all financial matters for the company including, but not limited to, revenue recognition, cash flow, profitability, project financial performance, company financial performance, resourcing, customer support & other needed financial matters.
Position Requirements include:
Strategy:
- Partner with CEO & other members of the executive team to develop strategic growth initiatives & oversee the development of market plans
- Identify opportunities for top-line growth & drive profit improvement, not just through the traditional methods of cost control, but through examples such as product category/regional profitability analysis & benchmarking against industry peers
- Provide data-driven insight to critical business matters to drive profitable growth, leading long term planning processes, & Company-wide updates of KPI's, etc.
- Contribute actively to the evolution & execution of strategic business plans, including M&A, organic growth, & business development strategies
Investor Relations:
- Responsible for financial aspects of fundraising activities, with relevant experiences in equity, debt & convertible financing
- Create board materials, fundraising materials & other key financial reporting to advise investors & key stakeholders on overall company progress & financial health
- Play a leading role in negotiating with banks & lenders during fundraising stages & manage lender relationships
- Act as a liaison & forge relationships between the Company & the BOD, potential Investors, Banks etc.
- Ensure the fiscal integrity of the business through enhancement & management of accounting systems & controls
Operational Finance:
- Draw on strong operational & inventory management finance skills to advise & add value
- Oversee working capital, investment of funds, & work with internal & external resources to raise additional capital as required
Financial Planning & Analysis:
- Provide overall leadership to the management reporting, financial planning, forecasting, & budgeting processes
- Lead efforts to drive the analytical rigor of the finance team so that business decisions throughout the organization are informed by analytical insight while improving the organization's ability to leverage & manage data
Reporting:
- Oversee, lead & manage the finance, control & accounting functions with a strict eye for cash flow inputs/outputs
- Responsible for all reporting, including monthly forecasting vs. actual cycle & reconciliation of variances
- Quarterly & year-end closing & reporting (for BOD & Investors)
- Annual budget & planning process, & 3-5Y forward planning
Efficiency / Process Improvement:
- Leverage an already strong operations platform to produce better data & insights & streamlines processes where possible
- Continuously examine opportunities for sustainable cost efficiencies that are consistent with the operating & growth strategies of the business
Leadership:
- Provide effective leadership to the finance organization, ensuring the development of the required financial capabilities for the Company, & the development of talent within the organization
- Ensure the function is properly resourced & organized, & develop an inclusive business partnership mindset across the organization
Compliance:
- Manage outside advisors such as auditors & tax advisors to assure compliance with federal & state law; as well as compliance with banking agreements
Education & Experience:
- Broad financial background from a retail environment with complex inventory management
- Prior experience as a CFO & experience working with growth-oriented businesses with revenues greater than $200M
- Proven ability to operate at both high & low elevations, being hands on when necessary with ability to lean into & drive the business forward
- 10+ years of experience in financial management & leadership with increasing strategic responsibility
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance, MBA preferred
- CPA preferred
- Public company experience preferred, with private to public experience a strong plus
- Strong GAAP experience required
- Proficiency with accounting software (NetSuite preferred) & large dataset Excel spreadsheets
- Experience within an international organization highly advantageous
- Proven ability to influence & build alignment across senior leadership
- Hybrid role, NY based (Brooklyn office space)
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $250,000 - $300,000 per year. Bonus & Equity Eligible
