The opportunity:

The Trade & Regulatory Compliance group is focused on identifying, advising, & developing policies, protocols & procedures to detect & prevent the company from committing violations of laws in the countries in which we or our clients conduct business.  

As our company grows, so do the regulatory requirements, complexities & risks. As our Global Corporate Risk Manager, you will join a critical group identified by the executive team to be one of our 3 Cs: Culture, Complexity & Compliance.  Reporting into the Manager, Compliance Programs you will ensure that the proper risks have been identified, mitigated, & insured in a constantly evolving world & industry working alongside industry veterans with a can-do attitude. 

You will: 

  • Manage bespoke new & renewal insurance programs for Flexport globally
  • Establish & maintain carrier relationships
  • Manage & oversee claims management process, including the claims handler
  • Oversee insurance program administration & planning including contract reviews, Certificates of Insurance, cross-functional global risk assessments, business continuity planning scenarios, & policy reviews
  • Work cross-functionally with internal & external stakeholders
  • Develop & implement plans to improve program performance & value
  • Analyze existing policy & process gaps, & develop solutions to close them
  • Manage the invoice / payment process for all placements, fees, & claims billings
  • Be comfortable using data to analyze trends, as well as predict & proactively fix problems that arise
  • Closely monitor media & global events to anticipate & mitigate potential risks

You should have:

  • BA/BS degree & 5+ years of Insurance industry experience
  • Experience in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Freight Forwarding is a plus!
  • Insurance Brokerage License preferred, however, can be waived with dedicated experience in the insurance field
  • Demonstrated a successful track record & expertise in managing risk for a global company
  • The ability to work quickly & communicate effectively, as well the ability to bring clarity to an ambiguous situation
  • Exposure to a range of disciplines including underwriting, placement, product design, business development, insurance administration, & claims
  • Excellent business judgment, executive presence, communication, & interpersonal skills
  • High integrity & discretion to handle confidential information
  • Strong enthusiasm to provide superb customer service to the leadership team & other key stakeholders
  • Demonstrated analytical & quantitative skills to use hard data & metrics to back up assumptions & develop business cases
