In support of our mission, we are seeking a Director, Information Technology to join our Technology team. Want to help us transform the travel experience? The ideal candidate will have had experience in performing & managing Information Technology & Service Management functions.

This role reports to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and will require a weekly in-office presence on Tuesdays & Thursdays.

What youll do:

  • Oversee IT operations for Away headquarters, remote employees, & retail stores

  • Lead a team of IT Operations support staff

  • Direct the IT Service Management function 

  • Analyze business requirements & company strategy for IT needs & systems

  • Define the IT strategy & roadmap

  • Deliver IT projects & process improvements

  • Implement & manage IT security & data protection programs in conjunction with the InfoSec team

  • Collaborate with Technology peers to deliver IT dependencies & improvements

  • Establish frictionless processes to onboard & offboard resources from IT services

  • Manage, support, & upgrade existing IT equipment & software

  • Prepare & manage the IT departmental budget 

  • Manage career growth & development of IT Operations & Service Management staff

  • Build / maintain relationships with software & hardware vendors & service providers 

  • Directly participate in IT improvements & support as required (i.e., be hands-on)

  • Own HQ & retail store network setup, security, maintenance & troubleshooting 

  • Own productivity software setup & maintenance including GSuite, Slack, etc.

  • Own security software setup & maintenance including Okta, Carbon Black, etc.

  • Own of Mac & Windows PCs support & maintenance using JAMF & Intune

  • Own Away HQ IT capabilities including conference room scheduling tools, video conferencing equipment, & printer setup & maintenance

  • Own support & maintenance of Azure & Google Cloud infrastructures

  • Own setup & support of enterprise service management tools including Atlassian Jira  

  • Communicate & document troubleshooting techniques & best practices

  • Lead development & delivery of training programs for new IT capabilities as necessary

  • Document & enforce new & current IT policies & procedures

Who you are:

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field

  • Minimum 10 years of Information Technology experience, with at least 3 years in a people-managing leadership role

  • Strong knowledge of IT security, best practices & procedures

  • Self-motivation & the ability to work with minimum supervision

  • Experience working with high-level executives

  • Experience with providing user-focused customer support 

  • Possess strong technical knowledge in relevant IT applications & technologies

  • Superior attention to detail, organizational skills, multitasking abilities, along with excellent verbal & written communication skills

  • Strong sense of urgency, initiative & problem solving skills

  • Ability to navigate tough situations, juggling various priorities & managing constraints

  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical & non-technical audiences

  • Proven track record of data-driven decision-making & applying continuous improvement methodologies across teams

  • Strong interpersonal communication & problem-solving skills

  • Team player with a "no task is too small" attitude

  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced & ever-changing environment

  • Passionate about transforming travel (but thats a given!)

Compensation Package:

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size & industry, & are one part of our total rewards program that also includes benefits, bonus, equity & various social & professional investment opportunities at Away. Pay decisions are based on a number of factors, including scope & qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, & balancing internal equity relative to other Away employees. We expect the majority of the candidates who are offered roles at Away to fall healthily within the range based on these factors.

  • Salary Range: $205,000 - $210,000 annually
  • This role is eligible to participate in Aways Annual Company Performance Bonus Plan, the terms of which are determined on an annual basis at the discretion of the company
  • Equity Grant: commensurate with level determined at the discretion of the company
